Cams music preferences
Hello everyone! I am Camiria Sardin and I am currently attending the class music of diverse cultures because I thought it intrigued me and I love to discover new cultures. I have produced music myself but only small projects in apps like garageband. I would love to produce music at a professional level at least once in my life. I actually would love to do or perfect everything at least once in my life. I am a highly curious person who loves to try new things and be creative.
I was born and raised in Racine, Wisconsin. My whole life I have been a hooper and I am currently redshirting for the Converse Womens basketball team. Before I came here to play basketball at Converse, I was in Illinois, and then Milwaukee, Wisconsin for basketball. This sport is a huge part of who I am and when I am not thinking about basketball, I am probably thinking about music (or food).
2. A genre of music that has been meaningful to me since my freshman year of highschool would be alternative/indie music, more specifically from the artist Mitski. When I first discovered Mitski and her work, I found it easy to relate to her music. I also remember feeling seen, validated, or understood when I listened to Mitski's music. Thankfully, in 2022 I got the oppurtunity to go see Mitski live in Chicago. Mitski's music fits into the alternative music genre because her music challenges the usual mainstream music, such as pop.
3. A genre of music that I can't really seem to vibe to is dubstep. I don't enjoy how it's one sound on a constant loop, followed by a distracting beat. Even though I don't like dubstep, I do listen to similar music such as songs like Dark Beach by Pastel ghost or Perfect by Princess superstar. The difference between dubstep and the songs I just listed is how dubstep is dramatic and replaying one loud noise repeatedly. While the songs I listed have a buildup to the main chorus. I understand using dubstep when promoting products or when there is an intense moment in sports however, outside of those two examples, I can not see myself listening to or enjoying dubstep alone.
Hello! The song I liked the most is Mitski’s “My Love Mine All Mine!” I absolutely love this song and meaning in the lyrics. This song is in my playlist as well and it reminds me of my boyfriend! I love how much love the song is filled with and brings me loads of happiness every time I hear it. The song I found most interesting was also “Mason vs Princess Superstar” because I also have just learned I also am not the biggest fan of dubstep. I don’t think I’ve ever really listened to any dubstep music, so this song choice made me want to explore to see if they all give off a similar vibe, which from what I found they do, which I don’t necessarily enjoy due to the repetitive nature which you mentioned, but can understand how some people would love it.
ReplyDeleteHey Camiria! I didn't realize I had already listened to Mitski, and I really like most of her songs since they make me feel at peace or just let me be. I both agree and disagree with dubstep; I can't study with this type of music or go through my daily routine, but I do listen to it when I work out because it hypes me up and gives me the energy to complete my workouts. Also, I really like your blog's template!
ReplyDeleteHey! I really like your style of music and how calming it is. I only knew the song, "My Love Mine All Mine," and I also really like that song. I listened to the others as well and I really like "The Girl From Ipanema." I think it'd be good music to study to, also.
ReplyDeleteHey Cam! I love some good old-time music. Something Stupid and The Girl from Ipanema I have heard before. I enjoy listening to them, it is very calming to listen to. My love Mine All Mine I did not realize but I have heard that before. I love that you got to hear her live. My favorite song from your list was The Girl From Ipanema. I also agree that I am not a huge fan of dubstep, I did not really enjoy that song either.
ReplyDeletehiii. I absolutely love the song "mine all mine" by Mitski as well. The lyrics have such a deep meaning, and can give light. I adore the singers voice along with the musical instrument and backtrack. Also, getting to see her in Chicago is so exciting!
ReplyDeleteHey Camiria !! I also love "old-time music" especially Frank Sinatra. If I was to go to karaoke, he would definitely be a go-to choice like the song " My Way". Im not the biggest fan of alternative music but I really liked the song you chose, Mine All Mine.
